Thukpa : The Soupy Noodles | Step by step instructions

Thukpa is a popular North eastern dish which is famous in Leh-Ladak and other adjoining areas. It is also known as Himalayan Noodle soup. Avery nice recipe to try with and nutritious too. You can also try Noodles Bolognese, Chilli & Lime Fish with Noodles, Chicken Patties with Noodles and Chicken Noodles



Thukpa : The Soupy Noodles

Ingredients to prepare the soup
  • One tablespoon of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • green chilli as per requirement
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • One medium tomato chopped
  • 1 cup cabbage chopped
  • Salt as per requirement
  • Red chilli powder as per requirement
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Half teaspoon chicken masala which is Optional
  • 3 cups of water
  • Masala cubes Maggi magic masala
  • 5 sprigs of chopped Cilantro
Ingredients to prepare the noodles
  • 150 grams of noodles of your choice preferably plane one
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of oil
  • Half teaspoon of salt
Ingredients to prepare the omelette
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of oil
  • A Pinch of salt
Preparation of Soup
  1. In a pan heat the oil
  2. Add chopped onion and saute for a while, till it is translucent
  3. Mix garlic and green chilli and saute for around 30 seconds and till the raw smell of ginger fades
  4. Addin tomatoes and cabbage and saute till the vegetables are soft.
  5. Add the dry spices like red chilli powder Garam Masala, chicken masala and salt
  6. Mix it properly and cook for another half a minute
  7. Add the Maggi magic masala and mix properly.
  8. Now pressure cook the whole ingredients upto 2 whistles.
  9. Let the pressure releases and after that open the pressure cooker
  10. Add chopped cilantro and Adjust the spices as per your wish
preparation of omelette
  1. Crack the egg with a spoon and transfer it into a bowl
  2. Add a Pinch of salt and beat it will.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and spread the beaten egg into it to cook
  4. Flip the omelette and cook the other side as well
  5. Once omelette is ready cut it into stripes and keep it aside.
Final assembly of Tupka noodles
  1. In a bowl Add in the cooked noodles
  2. Pour in the the previously prepared soup till the noodles are immersed.
  3. Add the omletter stripes in to it
  4. garnish it with cilantro
  5. Serve hot
