Ingredients
Section 1
  • One teaspoon of Cumin seeds -
  • One teaspoon of Urad Daal
  • One teaspoon of Channa daal
  • One teaspoon of Corriander seeds
  • Quarter teaspoon of Methi or fenugreek
  • Four to to Five Red kashmiri chilli( whole )
  • One twig of curry leaves seperated from the twing
Section 2
  • One medium onion chopped
  • Half teaspoon of garlic paste
  • Half cup of grated coconut powder
  • Tamerind the size of a coin
  • Quarted spoon of garam masala
Section 3
  • One teaspoon of Oil.
  • Thin slices of onion of medium size
  • Two medium sized potetos cut in to pieces
  • Quarter spoon of Turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Quarter cup of chopped beans
  • One cup of cooked toor dal without water
For tempering
  • One teaspoon of oil
  • ½ teaspoon of mustar seeds,
  • half teaspoon of urad daal
  • quarter teaspoon of hing or asafoetida.
  • 5 to 6 Curry leaves
Instructions
  1. In a pan add all the items on the section 1 Saute it for a minute or so without getting blackened.
  2. Add one One medium onion chopped and Half teaspoon of garlic paste in to it and saute for a while.
  3. Add half cup of grated coconut powder in to it and saute for a while.
  4. Transfer the contents in to a blender bowl. Add tamarind and garam masala in to it and blend it properly to form a consistent paste.
  5. In a pan heat oil, add thin slices of onion of medium size and One medium sized potato cut in to pieces. Saute for a while. Add one cup of water in to it. Add Quarter spoon of Turmeric powder and enough salt in to it. Let it cook for 10 minutes in low flame once boiled.
  6. Add chopped beans in to it. Add the previously prepared masala paste in to it and mix properly. Add enough water to form the consistency of a curry. oil it to another 5 minutes.
  7. Add One cup of cooked toor dal in to it. Add more water if required to bring to the consistency of the curry and mix Add more salt of required. Cook for another 5 minutes in low flame
  8. For tempering, in a small pan add oil, heat it , splutter mustard, add half teaspoon of urad dal,quarter teaspoon of hing and Curry leaves and heat it
  9. Add it over the samabar. Sambar is ready

Make a paste of the sauteed ingredients using a blender and keep aside

Saute potato and onion in a pan

Add water turmeric and salt in to it and boil in low flame for 10 minutes so that potato should be cooked.

Add chopped beans in to it and cook for a while. Add the masala paste in to it and  cook.
