Ravva Kesari (semolina Sweet)

Serving size of Ravva Kesari : One Small Bowl per Person

Ingredients required to prepare Ravva Kesari :

Semolina (Ravva) – 1 cup

Water – 4 – 5 cups

Food color (Orange) – 1/8 tbsp (optional)

Sugar – 1 ½ cup

Ghee – 4 tbsps

Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp

Cashews – 10

Raisins – 15

Directions to prepare Ravva Kesari :

  1. To prepare Ravva Kesari, first we need to take a pan and add ghee to it and let the ghee heat.

  2. Once the ghee is hot, add the ravva to it and fry it for 2 – 3 minutes. Then transfer the fried ravva to a different bowl and keep it aside.

  3. Fry the cashew nuts and raisins also in the ghee and keep them aside.

  4. Then pour 3 – 4 cups of water into a thick bottomed vessel and add orange food color to it and mix well. However, use of food color is optional.

  5. Then place the orange colored water filled vessel on the stove and let the water boil. Then add the fried ravva to the water slowly while stirring the water with the other hand so that formation of lumps is avoided.

  6. Then let the ravva cook for some time. Stir for some time while the ravva is being cooked.

  7. Once the ravva is almost cooked, add sugar and cardamom powder to the ravva and mix well.

  8. Let it cook for five more minutes and then add roasted dry fruits and raisins to it.

  9. Then switch off the stove and let the ravva kesari settle for around ten minutes.

  10. Then serve it in small bowls.

Note : Ravva Kesari may be served as a sweet snack. It is usually served during marriage functions.
