To prepare tasty and healthy pappu payasam, first we need to gather all the listed ingredients.
Then take a bowl and wash the chickpeas and rice. Then soak them for an hour.
Now take a grater and grate the jaggery.
Take a bowl and add the grated jaggery and some water to the bowl and heat it on a low flame until it is made into thick syrup.
Once the syrup is done, keep it aside.
Now, take a bowl and add water to it. Let the water boil. Once the water starts boiling add the soaked chickpeas and cook until they are half done.
Now add milk and rice to the bowl and boil until all the ingredients are cooked well.
After everything is cooked, add cardamom powder, cooled jaggery syrup. Mix everything well and cook for sometime on low flame.
Take a small pan and add ghee to it. Let it heat.
Once the ghee is hot, add the dry fruits such as raisins and cashew nuts to the boil and fry them.
Add the fried dry fruits to the payasam and switch off the flame.
Your tasty Pappu Payasam is ready to be served.
Note : Pappu payasam may be served as desert or sweet snack.
