Paneer Tikka is favorite among the vegetarians as a starter. Most of them see this as an alternative for chicken tikka. Being a vegetarian is one of the best thing in the life and paneer tikka is one of the most sought after dish not only in India but also is the most moving dish in the western “Indian restaurants”. Nevertheless one of my favorite.
Paneer Tikka is prepared by marinating Paneer chunks in a blend of spices and grilled in a Tandoor
Serving size of Paneer Tikka recipe : 3-4 servings
Ingredients to prepare Paneer Tikka
Section 1
Paneer or cottage cheese : 250 grams
Capsicum : 1 large
Yellow bell pepper(yellow capsicum) :1
Red bell pepper (red capsicum): 1
Onion : 1 Medium
Tomato :1
To Marinate Section 2
Thick curd : 200ml
Ginger garlic paste : 1 tsp
Carom or Ajwain seeds : 1 table spoon
Chili powder : preferably Kashmiri chilly 1 to 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder : Half teaspoon
Jeera or Cumin seed powder : 1 teaspoon
Coriander(Dhaniya) powder : 1 teaspoon
Garam Masala : Half teaspoon
Amchoor or Dry mango powder: 1 teaspoon
Chaat Masala : 1 teaspoon
Black pepper powder : Half teaspoon
Lemon juice : 1 teaspoon
Black salt : as per requirement
Section 3
Melted Butter: 2 tablespoon
Directions to prepare Paneer tikka
Cut all ingredients in section 1 in the shape of a Cube or square and keep aside.
In a large bowl whisk the curd so that it is consistent.
Mix all the ingredients in the Section 2 in the whisked curd including butter and mix properly so that it the mixture is smooth and consistent.
Add the ingredients in the section 1 (paneer and vegetables) in the above bowl and mix properly.
Keep it for in refrigerator for marinating for 2 to 3 hours.
Grilling Paneer tikka Using Oven
Place the paneer and vegetables as per you wish (can be alternative) in skewer.
Preheat oven to 180 * Celsius and keep the oven for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes remove the same and brush it with oil and keep in oven for grilling for again 15 minutes
Grilling Paneer tikka Using Gas stove
Take a nonstick flat pan and fry paneer and vegetables in medium flame.
Brush with butter in between. Fry all the sides properly and skewer it in a tooth pick of a metal one.
You can use some basen( 2 tablespoon or less) in case you are using gas stove during marinating so that it will be less sticky on the pan during frying
