Mokka Jonna Garelu ( Sweet Corn Patties)

Serving size of Mokka Jonna garelu : 3 or 4 per person

Ingredients required to prepare Mokka Jonna garelu :

Corns – 2 cups

Rice flour – ½ – ¾ cup

Jaggery / Sugar – 1 cup

Cardamom powder – ¼ tbsp

Oil – required for deep fry

Directions required to prepare Mokka Jonna Garelu :

  1. To prepare tasty Mokka Jonna garelu, we need to take raw and tender corns and separate the grains. Then pour them in a mixer jar and grind them into paste (not too smooth). Transfer it to a wide bowl and keep it aside.

  2. Now take jaggery and grate it with the help of a grater.

  3. If you are using sugar, pour it into mixer jar and grind it into powder.

  4. Then take the bowl with corn paste and add grated jaggery or powdered sugar to it.

  5. Then add rice flour and cardamom powder and mix everything properly.

  6. Add little water if necessary to form paste.

  7. Now take a thick bottomed vessel and pour oil into it (oil required for deep fry). Let the oil heat.

  8. While the oil is being heated, take a plastic cover or a parchment paper and apply ghee or oil o top of it. Then take little bit of the corn paste and place it on the paper or cover and press it with your fingers into flattened circle.

  9. Then check if the oil is heated. If the oil is hot enough, carefully remove the flattened circle from the paper and transfer it to the boiling oil and fry it.

  10. Flip the pattie so that both sides are cooked properly.

  11. Remove once it turns brown and place it on tissue paper to absorb extra oil.

  12. You can fry four to five patties at a time depending on the size of the bowl you are using for deep fry.

  13. Repeat the process until all the corn paste is completed.

  14. Transfer everything to a container for storage.

  15. Your tasty Mokka Jonna garelu is ready to be served.

Note : Mokka Jonna garelu may be served as a sweet snack.

About : Mokka jonna garelu are good for health as they have corns which contains lot of fibre.
