Margarita is a cocktail which consists mainly of Tequila, lime or lemon juice and triple sec salt or sugar This cocktail can serve on the rocks or blend with ice or even without any ice. This drink is traditionally served in eponymous Margarita glass which is a variant of champagne coupe or Cocktail glass.
This drink is believed to be invented in 1941 at Hussong’s Cantina in Ensenada, Mexico, by bartender Don Carlos Orozco. This drink is named after Margrita Henkel the daughter of the then German Ambassador who visited Cantina. Don Carlos is the bartender who was experimenting with cocktails and he mixed equal parts of Tequila, Mexican orange liqueur and lemon juice and served in a glass rimmed with salt. Don Carlos kept the name of this drink after Margarita Henkel as she was the first person who tested this drink.. There are many stories regarding the origin of Margarita but one thing is for sure that Margarita is more Mexican than any other region.
This is a famous drink and feature in many magazines from the day of its origin till date Jimmy Buffett made a song “Margaritaville”. again popularized this drink.
