If you like to try something new or if you are a connoisseur in food tasting and willing to think beyond the aquired taste you have been practicing from your childhood then this dish is for you. Do not expect a subtle and delicate taste for this dish, if so this dish is not for you. This is one of my favourite dish with a pronounced taste of  chilly and other Great Indian spices. The smooth and fluid taste of Guntur chicken makes it the most sought after chicken curry among the Andhra cuisine.

Guntur chicken is known for it spiciness and the rich taste of masala. Gundur chicken imbibes all the flavor of the famous Guntur chili. There are many famous restaurants in south India which serves Guntur chicken

The famous Guntur chicken recipe from Guntur
  • Ingradients to prepare Andhra Guntur Chicken Curry
  • Chicken- 500gm
  • Oil-2tps
  • Turmreric-1/2tsp
  • Red chili powder-2tsps (add more if u want spicy)
  • Salt-as per your taste
  • Grated coconut-2tsps
  • Poppy seeds-3tsps
  • Ginger garlic paste- 2 teaspoon
  • Cilantro-1bunch
  • Onions-2
  • Chillies-5
Masala Ingredients
  • Coriander powder-3tsps
  • Jeera-1tsp
  • Elachi (Cardamom ) - 2
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cinnamon-2 barks
  1. Clean the chicken then add turmeric, red chili powder, and ginger garlic paste, salt to taste.
  2. Make coconut and poppy seed paste and add to chicken.
  3. Marinate it for 30 minutes. Mean while u can make masala powder
  4. Roast all masala ingredients. Be careful not to get it black. Powder it using a small mixer grinder.
  5. Now take a pan and pour oil. Let the oil be heated now add finely chopped onions and green chilies let them cook till the onions get golden color.
  6. Now add marinated chicken stir them well (add some water and if required) keep lid for 10mins.
  7. After 10mins once again stir the chicken if needed add one cup of water and keep lid for another 10-15mins (till the chicke is properly cooked)
  8. Your chicken is cooked when oil comes out from chicken.
  9. Add 2 tsps of masala and stir and cook it for another 2-3 minutes.
  10. Finally add cilantro. Chicken is ready .serve hot.
  11. Note for taste: For the proper Guntur chicken taste, Instead of chili powder, roast the whole red Guntur chili, in the a little oil till it is dark red in a low flame and powder it. Be careful not to get it black.
Instead of Ginger garlic paste, You can use Ginger paste and garlic chopped in to small pieces. Here you need to add more garlic pieces.You can add 2 teaspoons of Garlic chopped. But remember to saute properly while cooking, else it man not taste good
