Ganusugadda Halwa (Sweet potato Halwa)

Sering size of Ganusugadda halwa : One small bowl full per person.

Ingredients required to prepare Ganusugadda halwa :

Sweet potato – 3 medium sized

Sugar – ¾ cup (check while cooking for correct sweetness)

Ghee – 3 – 4 tbsps

Milk – ¾ cup

Cardamom powder – ¼ tbsp

Cashew nuts – 10

Raisins – 15

Almond – 5

Directions to prepare Ganusugadda halwa :

  1. To prepare tasty and sweet Ganusugadda halwa, we need to take a some sweet potatoes and clean them with water.

  2. Then peel the papaya and boil them in water. Once they are boiled mash them into paste and keep it aside.

  3. Then take a small pan kind of bowl and pour ghee into it. Let it heat.

  4. Once the ghee is hot enough add the boiled sweet potato paste into the ghee and fry it for five minutes.

  5. Then add sugar to it and mix.

  6. Cook for another 2 – 3 minutes until the sugar is mixed properly.

  7. Now add the milk, cardamom powder to it. Mix again and cook.

  8. While the mixture is cooking, take another small bowl and heat ghee in it. Once the ghee is hot fry the cashew nuts, raisins and almonds in ghee.

  9. Chop the almonds into small pieces before frying them.

  10. Now switch off the stove and add the fried cashew nuts, raisins and chopped almonds to the cooked sweet potato mixture.

  11. Your tasty and mouth watering Ganusugadda halwa is ready to be savoured.

Note : Ganusugadda halwa may be served as a sweet snack or a desert. It is a very tasty sweet.

About : Ganusugadda halwa has sweet potato which is rich in starch. It also has fibre content which is good for health.
