Fish Masala Pickle

Serving Size: 1 jar

Ingredients:

Seer Fish (Neyimeen) – 1/2 kg (chopped and cleaned)
Red Chilly Powder
Turmeric Powder
Salt
Gingelly Oil – 4-5 tbl spoon
Onion – 3 medium sized
Garlic – 20 cloves
Ginger – 1 inch long piece (sliced)
Green Chilly – 6 (middle parted)
Curry Leaves
Vinegar – 4 tbl spoon
Sugar – 1/2 tsp

 

Directions:

Make a paste of 2 tsp red chilly powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and a little salt.
Apply this paste over the fish pieces and leave to marinate for half an hour.
Heat the oil in a pan and first fry the marinated fish.
After removing the fried fish, in the same oil saute the onion, garlic, ginger, green chilly and curry leaves.
(Unlike usual pickles, this pickle cannot be stored for long due to the addition of onion. For long storage, avoid onion)
Add 1 tbl spoon red chilly powder, pour a little water enough to cook, add required amount of salt and cover-cook for a while in low flame.
After 3-4 minutes, add 4 tbl spoon vinegar and continue cooking for another 2 minutes.
Then, put off the flame and add 1/2 tsp sugar for seasoning.
Wait for the masala to cool.
Pour the masala over the fish and softly mix.

Fish Pickle is ready!
