Ingredients
  • Bittergourd - ¼ kg
  • Onion - 1
  • Tomatoes - 3
  • Red chili powder - 3 tbsp
  • Mustard - ¼ tbsp
  • Fenugreek powder - ½ tbsp
  • Oil - 2-3 tbsp
  • Garlic - 1 (full)
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tbsp
  • Salt - 3 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 2 – 3 twigs
  • Zeera - 1 tbsp
  • Pulses for Tadka (Popu ginjalu ) - 1 tbsp - *****Refer the bottom of the Instructions section
  • Dry red chili - 3
  • Tamarind - 2 tbsp
Instructions
  1. Wash the bitter gourd in water. After that, cut the bitter gourd into very small pieces and put them into a bowl.
  2. Then, take a bowl and pour oil into the bowl and let the oil heat.
  3. Then add the bitter gourd pieces into the oil and fry them deeply (until they are brown in color)
  4. Now, take the onion and cut it into pieces and fry the pieces.
  5. Then take tomatoes and cut them too. Boil the cut tomatoes along with tamarind.
  6. After this, add the fried onion, boiled tomatoes, garlic, into mixer and mix them into paste.
  7. Now, mix the fried bitter gourd pieces with the paste.
  8. Add turmeric powder, fenugreek powder, salt and red chili powder to the bitter gourd pieces mixture.
  9. Take another bowl and add oil into that, let the oil heat.
  10. After the oil heats, add popu ginjalu( Pulses for tadka)*****, jeera, mustard, curry leaves and fry for a minute.
  11. Add the mixture to this and mix it properly.
  12. With this your kakarakaya pachadi is ready to be served.
  13. NOTE :
  14. Please note that you can even use tamarind or lemon for the taste. Kakarakaya pachadi can be eaten with rice for lunch or dinner.
