Pavakka Mezhukkupuratti or Bitter gourd fry
  • Two medium sized bitter gourd sliced
  • quarter cup of onion sliced
  • Half to one teaspoon of Kashmiri Chilli powder.
  • quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • sold as per requirement
  • curry leaves
  • coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • Quarter cup of thin fried coconut slices
  • Garlic : 5 pods
  1. in a thick bottomed pan, heat the oil and add curry leaves onion slices and bitter gourd.
  2. cook the bitter gourd in oil in a medium flame till everything light turns golden brown.
  3. Add garlic and saute for a while till the raw smell of garlic is gone as well as the bitter gourd to golden brown.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients like chili powder turmeric powder and salt
  5. Sauté it for a while without getting burned.
  6. Add the fried coconut along with thinly sliced onion and serve.
Instead of Kashmiri chilli powder you can use the green slit and sliced green chilies.
