Crab Roast Kallu Shappu Style or Toddy Shop style

Serving size of Crab Roast recipe: 4-6

Ingredients to prepare Crab Roast

Crab – One Kilo around 6 Crabs
Chilly powder – 4 Teaspoon
Coriander Powder – 4 Teaspoon
Garlic pods chooped (big size) – 10
Ginger (Long Slices) – One 2 inch long ginger
Onion (Long Slices) – 400 gms
Pepper Powder – Four to Five Teaspoons
Meat masala – One Teaspoon
Oil – Around Six Teaspoon
Salt – As per taste
Tomato chopped – Four to Five nos
Curryleaves – 20 nos
Greenchillies (Slited) – 3 numbers

Directions to prepare Crab Roast

  1. Better to separate the legs and cut the crab in to 2 pieces so that the crab can be marinated properly.
  2. Clean the Crab properly in salt water and Turmeric
  3. As a first step bake or boil the crab flesh properly
  4. Put the crab in a vessel and pour water to cover, Boil for 5 to 8 minutes. The black dots might change to orange on the crab is a good indication of the crab being baked. Once done remove the pieces
  5. Take the pieces and marinate in ginger, garlic, chilly and meat masla paste for and hour
  6. Next is Roasting.Fry the onions to light brown .
  7. Add Ginger and Garlic in to that along with green chillies
  8. after 3 to 4 minutes add tomato and cook well for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Add Chilli powder, Coriander Powder, Meat Masala and 2 teaspoon oil and stir well for 3-4 minutes
  10. Add salt and pepper in to it
  11. Beak the crab shell a bit so that masala can trickle inside and add in to the Gravy and cook for 3-4 minutes.Add some water if necessary
  12. Make the gravy thick by cooking properly.
  13. Garnish with some pepper powder and curry leaves
