Chicken curd curry or Chicken Thairu curry or Dahi Chicken or Yogurt Chicken

Serving size of the Dahi Chicken recipe :4

Ingredients for Dahi Chicken:

One  Full chicken, divided  into ten pieces (chicken fillets can also be used)
Five tablespoon yoghurt
Four inch piece of ginger, crushed
Three to four cloves of garlic, crushed
Two green chilli ,cut in to small
Two tablespoon coriander powder
Two teaspoon cumin powder
One teaspoon red chilli powder (Kashmiri Mirch preferred)
Three large cardamom pods, crushed
Two teaspoon cumin seeds,
One cinnamon stick
Three  tablespoon ghee
One brown onion, diced
One red chilli, cut in to small piece
Half tsp dried fenugreek leaves (Kasuri methi)
Two tomatoes, chopped
Hundred milliliter chicken stock
Coriander leaves, to garnish

 

Directions to prepare Dahi Chicken:

  1. In a bowl coat the chicken with yoghurt  and keep it in fridge for an hour or so to saute.
  2. Add cinnamon, ginger, garlic, green chillies,chilli powder, cumin powder, cumin seeds, cardamom pods and  coriander to the chicken-yoghurt mix
  3. Keep this in the fridge to marinate overnight for more taste. In case of urgency marinate for an hour.
  4. Saute the onion until brown in Ghee.
  5. Add Marinated chicken and dried fenugreek leaves and cook for 4-5 minutes uncovered. Add tomato and stir
  6. Once cooked add chicken stock and heat in low flame for 45 minutes.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves or curry leaves to serve.
