Chambakka is abundant during summer. You can make chambakka Jam, Chambakka wine or Chambakka pickle. Here is my mother recipe for Chambakka pickle. Chambakka, a bell shaped fruit is also known( Chambakka in English) as rose apple, water apple, bell fruit, wax apple, love apple, java apple, mountain Apple, or wax jambu.
Chambakka Pickle is another option to store chambakka
Ingredients
Chambakka : 2 cups
Ginger garlic paste : 1 tbsp
Green chilly - 1
Red Chilly powder 3 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1 pinch
Fenugreek powder : 1 pinch
Mustard seeds : 1/ tsp
Gingelly oil : As required
Salt : as required
Vinegar :1/2 cup
Instructions
Two cup chambakka to be cut in to small pieces.
Splutter the mustard seeds in Gingelly oil.Add ginger garlic paste and Green chilly and saute.
Add chambakka. Saute nicely. Add turmeric powder, fenugreek powder and chilly powder and saute.
Add more oil of required for sauteing. Add salt and remove from flame.
Let it cool. Add vinegar and mix properly. Store in a tight glass container.
