Boppayi Halwa (Pappaya Halwa)

Serving size of Boppayi Halwa Recipe : one small bowl full per person

Ingredients required to prepare Boppayi Halwa :

Raw papaya – 1 small

Sugar – ¾ cup

Ghee – 3 – 4 tbsps

Milk – ¾ cup

Cardamom powder – ¼ tbsp

Cashew nuts – 10

Raisins – 15

Almond – 5

Directions to prepare Boppayi Halwa :

  1. To prepare tasty and mouth watering Boppayi halwa, we need to take a small raw papaya and clean it with water. The papaya should not be too raw.

  2. Then peel the papaya and grate it with the help of a grater.

  3. Then take a small pan kind of bowl and pour ghee into it. Let it heat.

  4. Once the ghee is hot enough add the grated raw papaya into the ghee and fry it for five minutes.

  5. Then add sugar to it and mix.

  6. Cook for another 2 – 3 minutes until the sugar is mixed properly.

  7. Then add the milk, cardamom powder to it. Mix again and cook.

  8. While the mixture is cooking, take another small bowl and heat ghee in it. Once the ghee is hot fry the cashew nuts, raisins and almonds in ghee.

  9. Chop the almonds into small pieces before frying them.

  10. Now switch off the stove and add the fried cashew nuts, raisins and chopped almonds to the cooked raw papaya mixture.

  11. Your tasty and mouth watering Boppayi halwa is ready to be savoured.

Note : Boppayi halwa may be sered as a sweet snack or a desert. Now a days, it is being served during marriage functions.
