Banana Halwa

Serving Size: serves 4

 

Ingredients

 

  1. Ripe Bananas- ½ kg
  2. Ghee-1/2 cup
  3. Jaggery-1/2 kg
  4. Almonds/badam (chopped) -1 tbsp
  5. Almond flakes- 1 tsp

 

Directions

  1. Peel the bananas and scrape out the black-veined centre.
  2. Mash the bananas into pulp.
  3. Warm the ghee in a pan and add the banana pulp.
  4. Cook, until the mixture turns light brown.
  5. Add the crushed jaggery. Stir well.
  6. Add the cardamom powder and the chopped almonds.
  7. Stir well until the almonds are lightly roasted.
  8. Garnish with almond flakes.

 

Tips:

  1. If you add 1 tsp of fried coconut flakes and 2 cups of coconut milk to this dish and warm it slightly, it can be served as a South Indian sweet called Pazha Paayasam

 

  1. Choose only ripe bananas to make this dish
